Carbomer Gel / Serum ... The perfect gel / serum starter recipe. Using this basic starter gel / serum recipe you can learn how to make a gel / serum. Once you've perfected your technique you can get creative to produce any type of gel / serum. The purpose of a gel / serum is the targeted delivery of actives. Every gel / serum should absorb readily to deliver your actives into the tissues.


Ingredients:

Phase A: Combine and mix well using a stick blender, avoid getting splashed.

Phase B: Combine the water and Carbomer gently, hydrate for a minimum of 1 hour, or until fully hydrated with no evidence of grit or clumps (should be very smooth), avoid getting splashed. Once fully hydrated combine with Phase A with adequate agitation.

Phase C: To modify this gel for other applications simply replace a portion of the water phase from Phase A to account for your specific ingredients and add those ingredients here. For example: if you'd like to make an anti-aging serum you could add 3% Botopical and 1% LiPlump. To do this you would subtract 4% from the water in Phase A, which would then be 45% (450 gms) and proceed as instructed. After combining Phase A with Phase B you would then add your Botopical and LiPlump.

This product will be very foamy. Allow it to settle for several hours to a full day before packaging.

NOTE ... Proper formulating practices while manufacturing of this product. The Carbomer solution will be acidic until neutralized, and the tetra solution will be basic until combined with the Carbomer solution. As always, read and understand, the MSDS for each ingredient prior to formulating!
